'Rat Pack' member Bishop dies, 89
The Rat Pack
The Rat Pack were known for their seemingly chaotic performances
Comedian Joey Bishop, the last surviving member of Frank Sinatra's "Rat Pack", has died at the age of 89.

Bishop died of multiple causes at his home in California late on Wednesday, according to his friend and publicist, Warren Cowan.

The Rat Pack took off in the early 1960s, performing at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas.

Besides Bishop and Sinatra the group included Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin and Peter Lawford.

Bishop began as a stand-up comic before moving on to film and television.

He starred in the Rat Pack films Ocean's Eleven in 1960 and Sergeants 3 in 1962.

Bishop was born Joseph Abraham Gottlieb on 3 February 1918 in the Bronx.

His wife Sylvia Ruzga, with whom he had one son, died in 1999.
