Catholics spread the word on the Internet

Leaders of the Roman Catholic Church are meeting in the American city of Denver for four days of talks on how the church can use the worldwide computer network known as the Internet to spread its message.

About sixty cardinals, archbishops and bishops from around the world are holding discussions with industry leaders.

A BBC correspondent says that while the church is concerned about pornography on the Internet, it sees the network as a medium for winning new converts.

The Vatican already has a site on the network, and many churches in America spread the word on it.
