Teenager charged after US shooting

Police in the US city of Savannah have arrested a 19-year-old man after two teenagers were shot dead outside a high school dance.

One other youth suffered gunshot wounds in the attack late on Friday outside the Beach High School.

Darrell Ingram, 19, was arrested and charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

Neither he nor the dead teenagers were students at the high school, according to police.

The incident took place as about 300 students were leaving a dance held in honour of the girl's basketball team, the Lady Bulldogs, which had just won the state championship.

    Series

The shooting is the latest in a series at American schools.

In April 1999, two teenagers went on the rampage at Columbine High School in Denver, Colorado, killing 12 of their fellow students and a teacher before taking their own lives.

The following month, a student opened fire at Heritage High School near Conyers, Georgia, injuring six schoolmates.

And 10 days ago, a six-year-old boy shot a classmate dead at a school in Michigan.
