US school killing provokes shock
There have been renewed calls in America for greater gun control following the shooting dead of a six-year-old girl by a boy of the same age. The incident happened on Tuesday at an elementary school near Detroit. President Clinton has challenged candidates in the presidential election to make gun control a bigger issue -- and the vice president, Al Gore, said it was time to get guns out of the hands of those who should not have them. The boy is reported to be in the custody of the state child welfare agency. Prosecutors say he is too young to be held criminally responsible for his actions.
