Hurricane Greg hits Mexico

Cleaning up after hurricane-related floods in Mexico City

Ten people have been killed in Mexico as Hurricane Greg moves in from the Pacific Ocean.

Strong winds, heavy rains and flooding have affected several parts of the country - and most of Baja California has been placed under a formal hurricane warning.

Maximum sustatained winds are as strong as 80mph (130kmh), according to the Miami-based National Hurricane Centre.

Senior officers from the Mexican army and navy have planned rescue operations, and hundreds of people have been evacuated from low-lying areas.

Local Red Cross offices have prepared emergency shelters in case of flooding, residents have begun stockpiling supplies of food and there have been long queues for petrol.
