Alaskan helicopter crash fatal

The helicopter company ran tours of the glaciers

A helicopter carrying tourists on a sightseeing trip in Alaska has crashed into a glacier, killing all seven people on board.

The accident took place on Herbert Glacier in the Tongass National Forest, northwest of the Alaskan state capital, Juneau.

Alaskan State Troopers have gone to the site, but have not recovered any bodies. The cause of the crash remains unknown.

A team of inspectors from the US National Transportation Safety Board is being sent to investigate.

The nationalities and identities of the tourists are not yet known.

Tourists frequently hire helicopters to view spectacular glaciers and fjords in the area - a popular summer tourist destination.

Coastal Helicopters, which owned and operated the AStar 350 helicopter that went down, has so far declined to comment on the accident.
