Northern Mexico declared disaster area
Five states in northern Mexico covering a tenth of the country have been declared a disaster area because of drought. They are Coahuila, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and Sonora. Agriculture there has been badly hit by water shortages.
The states are now expected to get financial help from the federal government.
