Three Guatemalans guilty of rape

A Guatemalan court has sentenced three men to twenty-eight years in prison on charges of rape and robbery following an attack on a party of thirteen United States students in January last year.

The students, along with three professors and a local tour guide, were attacked while they were visiting a historic Mayan site.

At least three other people suspected of having taken part in the attack are still at large.

The lawyers for the defendants say they will appeal.
