Giuliani to wed for third time
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani with fiancée Judith Nathan
Rudy Giuliani and Judith Nathan are said to be "ecstatic"
New York's former Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, will head down the aisle once again to marry his girlfriend Judith Nathan.

Mr Giuliani - who has been married twice before - proposed to Ms Nathan on a recent business trip to Paris, his spokeswoman said.

The second Mrs Giuliani won a $6.8m divorce settlement this summer
No details have been released about a date or place for the wedding, which is now possible after Mr Giuliani, 58, reached a divorce settlement with his second wife under which he must pay her $6.8m.

A controversial figure as the tough mayor of New York City, Mr Giuliani gained a new reputation after the 11 September attacks and has been feted around the world, including in Britain where the Queen gave him an honorary knighthood.

Mr Giuliani's spokeswoman Sunny Mindel said the couple were "ecstatic" about their forthcoming wedding.

New York newspapers reported that Mr Giuliani gave his fiancee an oval Ceylon sapphire, set in platinum and surrounded by 10 diamonds.

Acrimonious divorce

Speculation about Mr Giuliani's relationship with Ms Nathan surfaced in 2000 when the mayor announced he was separating from his second wife, Donna Hanover.

He accused Ms Hanover of "cruel and inhuman treatment" while she blamed his alleged adultery for the break-up.

The couple ended their two-decade marriage last summer in an out-of-court deal. They have two children together.

Mr Giuliani's first marriage to Regina Peruggi lasted about 14 years but was annulled by the Roman Catholic Church because the pair had not obtained the church dispensation needed for them - as second cousins - to be allowed to wed.
