Toledo's paternity suit scandal grows
Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo has confirmed he held a secret meeting with a supreme court judge who led a panel reviewing a paternity suit against him.

In a statement, Mr Toledo said the judge, Jose Silva, had requested the meeting, which took place several weeks before the panel suspended a lower court judgement ordering Mr Toledo to take a DNA test to resolve the dispute.

The announcement comes after the opposition requested the impeachment of Judge Silva, who admitted he had visited the president's home in an attempt to persuade him to accept the paternity of a 14-year-old girl.

Mr Toledo has admitted a past relationship with the girl's mother, but denies fathering the child.

The girl's mother has renewed her demands that President Toledo take a DNA test to determine once and for all if he is the father.
