Guatemala landslide rescue continues

Rescue workers in Guatemala are continuing to search for people missing since a landslide hit a village on Thursday.

So far 26 bodies have been recovered and seven people are still missing.

The spokesperson for the emergency services in the area, Javier Hermosilla, told the BBC that the rain was still falling, slowing down the rescue operations.

He said it was difficult to get food and blankets to the area as roads have been cut off by the rivers of mud and water that swept down a mountainside after hours of torrential rain.

Those who survived the landslide are living in temporary shelters and have asked the authorities to move them to a less dangerous area.
