In pictures: Rescue helicopter crash
A rescue helicopter has crashed into Oregon's snow-capped Mount Hood, as its crew attempted to pick up injured climbers from an icy crevasse.
The Pave Hawk helicopter was responding to a distress call from climbers who had fallen into a crevasse
After stopping to drop off a rescuer and some equipment, the helicopter started to lose altitude
It got so low that its refuelling probe hit the snow
The rotor blades broke off on impact...
...and the helicopter rolled 300 metres down the slope
The incident was screened live on televison, and the horrified announcer said:"If only this was a movie"
The helicopter eventually stopped at the base of the snow-covered slope
At least one of those on board is thought to have been seriously injured in the accident
