In pictures: Colombia elects new leader
War-weary voters in Colombia have returned Alvaro Uribe, a radical hard-liner, as their next president, giving him a historic first-round landslide.
Colombians had 11 candidates to choose from.
But one issue dominated this campaign - the civil war.
Over 200,000 soldiers and police were deployed to protect voters
One candidate, Ingrid Betancourt, has been abducted by leftist rebels.
The candidates of the established parties were standing again.
But their supporters were to be disappointed
Alvaro Uribe, an independent with a strong line on security, was in.
