In pictures: Rio celebrates
Rio de Janeiro comes to life in a dazzling array of colour and costumes as the city stages its world-famous annual carnival.
 Exotic dancers delighted thousands of revellers
 Performers showed off their lavish outfits
 Children shared in the fun of the occasion
 The crowds were entertained by a host of performers
 Outlandish costumes kept the crowds amused
 Even Bush and Bin Laden enjoyed the festivities
 The party kicked off when the key to the city was handed to the carnival 'king'
