In pictures: US forest fires
Some 10,000 firefighters are trying to contain dozens of wildfires spreading across the western United States.

Many of the fires, in parts of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state, are reported to have been triggered by lightning and they have already destroyed dozens of homes.
