El Salvador earthquake: "more aid needed"

The President of El Salvador, Francisco Flores, has said the international aid effort which followed the earthquake almost two weeks ago is a tiny proportion of what's needed.

The Salvadoran leader said that while his country was grateful for the help, it covered barely a quarter of the country's basic needs.

Official figures say more than a-million people have been left destitute by the earthquake with more than seven-hundred dead.

Hundreds are still missing.

President Flores has called on El Salvador's creditors to look into the possibility of restructuring the country's debt.

He described the current conditions as making recovery impossible.

He's also called for a common Central American strategy to deal with natural disasters.
