DR Congo: opponents of Kabila sentenced

A military court in the Democratic Republic of Congo has passed sentence on three prominent opponents of President Laurent Kabila.

The court in the southern city of Lubumbashi sentenced President Kabila's former military adviser, Masasu Nindanga, to twenty years in prison on charges of threatening state security and inciting soldiers to revolt.

Opposition leader Joseph Olenghankoy was given a fifteen year sentence for violating a ban on political activity, and another politician, Arthur Z'ahidi Ngoma, was given a one-year suspended sentence on the same charges.
