US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the US remains focused on reversing the "ongoing dire human consequences of genocide" in the Darfur region.
She made the remarks while unveiling the results of a policy review on Sudan in Washington.
In the new initiative, the US is offering the Sudanese government more incentives for international engagement.
Hillary Clinton was accompanied by the US's ambassador to the UN Susan Rice, and the US envoy to Sudan, Scott Gration.
