US vessel escapes pirate attack

A US-flagged merchant ship is heading for Kenya under American naval escort after escaping an attack by pirates off the Somali coast.

The Liberty Sun came under fire from rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons. Pirates have vowed to avenge the deaths of those killed in recent rescue operations by US and French forces.
