Thousands flee Congo fighting

Tens of thousands of people in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo have been fleeing amid fierce fighting between UN peacekeepers and rebel troops.

As the rebel army closes in on the city of Goma, UN soldiers in tanks and government troops have been on the move.

In some areas mobs hurled stones at the tanks to vent their anger at what they see as the failure of the UN to protect them.
