March supports Mauritania coup

Hundreds of people have marched through the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott in support of leaders of the military coup. Police fired tear gas at the few who protested the coup.

Military rulers, who seized power in a bloodless coup on Wednesday, have promised to hold elections as soon as possible and said in a statement that the elections would be "free and transparent".
