Congolese voters' views: Kudra
Various voting scenes in DR Congo

Kudra Katembo, 21, is a student in the Democratic Republic of Congo's northern city, Kisangani.

I am very happy to have voted because I have made my choice for freedom.

I voted at noon local time and it was very fast for me - there were not many people, perhaps most were planning to vote later during the day.

I went on foot to the polling station as it is only 15 minutes from my home and once there I did not wait longer than 10 minutes to vote.

The polling station consisted of five rooms and in each room there were five election officials overseeing the process. They were relaxed and most were just sitting around on benches.

I am back home now and am cooking supper for some of my friends who are visiting.

Everybody is happy here in Kisangani. Here people want only Kabila to be chief of the country. There is only one choice for Kisangani.

From what I have been hearing on the radio it seems that there have been many irregularities in other centres and towns in the republic.

I am pleased that here in Kisangani everything has gone alright.

My only worry is the low turn-out. It is a bad sign.
