Kinshasa arrest of opposition newspaper editor

Reports from the Democratic Republic of Congo say that the editor of the pro-opposition newspaper, Le Potentiel, has been arrested in the capital, Kinshasa.

According to the reports, the editor, Modeste Mutinga, had been called in by the intelligence services a number of times over the past week and questioned about an article in the newspaper dealing with the house arrest imposed on the opposition leader, Etienne Tshisekedi.

Mr Mutinga is reported to have refused to reveal the names of associates of President Laurent Kabila who the article alleged were upset by the treatment of Mr Tshisekedi.
