DR Congo president health scare denied

A spokesman for the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Laurent Kabila, has denied reports that Mr Kabila is ill and receiving medical treatment.

The spokesman, the cabinet secretary Abdoulaye Yerodia, said President Kabila was as fit as a fiddle.

Mr Yerodia did not confirm a Swiss government statement that Mr Kabila was in Switzerland on a private visit, but said the president was out of the country and would continue his work when he returned.
