Manager of Ghanaian football team quits
The head coach of Ghana's national football team, Rinus Israel, has resigned following the elimination of his team from the African Nations' Cup in Burkina Faso. Mr Israel -- who is Dutch -- was replaced by the team's technical director Fred Osam-Duodu until a new coach is found. Ghana, who won the African Nations' Cup four times, were eliminated when they lost by one goal to nil to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday. The quarter-finals begin today -- Friday. The hosts Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Morocco, South Africa and Tunisia remain in the competition. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
