Bissau military hold fire
The military rulers in Guinea Bissau say they have scrapped plans that would have given them supreme powers over any civilian government for the next ten years.
The prime minister, Francisco Fadul, said the decision was taken after talks with political parties.
He said the current administration would be dissolved after elections due at the end of the month.
The current administration, led by General Ansumane Mane, ousted President Nino Vieira in May after an eleven-month rebellion provoked by his sacking.
General Mane is not standing in the elections.
