DR Congo, jailed opposition leaders moved out of Kinshasa

The authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have transferred two jailedopposition leaders from the capital, Kinshasa, to Lubumbashi in the south.

The two, Joseph Olengakhoy and Arthur Z'ahidi, are among a growing number of political detainees held by the Kabila government.

The BBC correspondent in Kinshasa says both men have been sharply critical of President Kabila.

The local human rights organisation AZADHO believes their transfer outside Kinshasa is designed to isolate them from their supporters in the capital.

The human rights group says the security forces have arrested seven more people -- three traditional chiefs and two university lecturers -- in the eastern town of Bukavu .
