New Somaliland MPs in fist fight
There have been fist fights at the opening of the first elected parliament of the self-declared republic of Somaliland.

Scuffles broke out when opposition MPs objected to the temporary speaker adjourning the session after the opening ceremony.

They had wanted him to supervise the election of a permanent speaker.

Police surrounded the building and were challenged when entering parliament, but the confrontation ended peacefully.

Earlier, students clashed with police outside parliament after they had gathered to protest at the killing of a colleague.

The BBC's Jamal Abdi says a number of students were arrested and taken to Hargeisa police station.

At the same time, relatives of those injured were seen crying outside the entrance of the main hospital in the capital.
