Ugandan army reshuffle affects DR Congo

The Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, has carried out a reshuffle of senior army officers, including the appointment of a new senior officer with Ugandan forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The officer, Edson Muzoora, is currently based in Kampala where he has been responsible for anti-terrorism and crime control measures.

The Ugandan operation in Congo is based in Kisangani under the leadership of Brigadier James Kazini.

The reshuffle was announced as Ugandan and Rwandan officers prepare to discuss a report into the causes of fighting in Kisangani last month between their forces, which support opposing Congolese rebel factions.
