Eritrea has marked the funeral of Foreign Minister Ali Said Abdella, who died of a heart attack on Sunday.
President Isaias Afewerki was among those who paid tribute
Mr Ali Said, who was in his fifties, died in his sleep in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Three days of mourning were declared, beginning on Monday. Mr Ali Said's body lay in state in Asmara's Denden Hall.
President Isaias Afewerki, high ranking government officials, ministers, and members of the diplomatic corps paid their respects.
Al-Amin Mohammed Said, secretary of the governing People's Front for Democracy and Justice, paid tribute to Mr Ali Said as "a courageous and heroic fighter who gallantly struggled for the liberation of his country and people with dedication and spirit of sacrifice".
Justice Minister Fawzia Hashim said Eritrea had lost "a courageous fighter and able diplomat".
Mr Ali Said first became involved in the independence struggle during the period of Ethiopian rule over Eritrea, under Emperor Haile Selassie.
