Rebels in DR Congo confirm withdrawal

The leader of a rebel faction in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean Pierre Bemba, has confirmed that his forces have pulled out of three towns in the north-west.

Mr Bemba told the BBC that they'd made a tactical withdrawal from Zongo, Libenge and Gemena.

Refugees who fled into the Central African Republic say that Congolese government troops massacred more than two hundred people when they took Libenge last week.
