Kenya joins US in terror war games
As President Daniel arap Moi discusses the United States-led war on terror with President George Bush in Washington, the two armies hold joint military operations at Manda Bay naval base on the Kenyan coast.
Some 300 marines are taking part in the exercise at Manda Bay naval base, backed up by US ships off the Kenyan coast
They practiced seizing an airfield
The two armies have been working together in Operation Edged Mallet since 1996
Kenyan villagers were surprised to wake up to US marines
The exercises began just two days before Paradise Hotel was blown up near Mombasa
Nine Kenyans were killed, along with three Israelis and the three suicide bombers
