Mandela, Charles and Spice

Prince Charles, on his first visit to South Africa, has been welcomed by President Mandela.

He arrived in Johannesburg from Lesotho on the latest stage of his eight-day tour of southern African countries.

At a photocall on the steps on the President's home, the Prince and Mr Mandela were joined by the five members of the British pop group the Spice Girls.

They later took part in a charity concert attended by Prince Charles, his son Prince Harry and the South African vice-President Thabo Mbeki.
