Niger protestors burn Israeli flag

Thousands of people have taken part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in the Niger capital, Niamey.

The protestors converged on the city's main mosque where they burnt the Israeli flag and accused Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, of genocide.

The organisers promised to open an account to raise money for the Palestinians.

Anti-Israeli demonstrations are growing in various African countries. On Friday protestors in Senegal, called on their leaders to sever ties with Israel.

In Mali, Muslim leaders passed a motion of support for Palestine and invoked a curse on the Israeli and American leaders.
