Somalis to combat terrorism

Somalia's interim president, Abdulkassim Salat Hasan, says his government will fight against any group that's proved to be a terrorist organisation.

He also said the transitional government had never had any relations with the Somali Islamic group Al-Ittihad Al-Islamiya, which the US has named among those it suspects of having links to terrorist organisations.

The Somali government has appointed a national committee to fight terrorism, including the interior and defence ministers, and the police commanders.
