Report on Sudanese flood damage
The Sudanese authorities have given details of the damage caused by flooding along the Nile, which has left thousands homeless and destroyed crops and livestock.
A preliminary report said the worst affected area was River Nile State in the north, where hundreds of homes had been washed away. Sennar State on the Blue Nile had also been badly hit. Reports say flood waters have subsided in central Sudan, but are still rising in the north, engulfing islands and buildings. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
