DR Congo peace pledge

The new chairman of the Southern Africa Development Community, SADC, President Bakili Muluzi of Malawi, says he'll be pressing for reconciliation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It's a member of SADC but President Kabila did not attend the summit that's just finished.

He's due to visit Malawi today at Mr Muluzi's invitation to consult on the peace process.

Mr Muluzi also said he would be trying to mediate in the conflict in Angola: he said SADC wanted dialogue with the Angolan rebel leader, Jonas Savimbi, but no-one knew where he was.
