Somali gunmen kidnap MP

Gunmen in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, have kidnapped a member of the transitional parliament who's alleged to owe them money.

The MP Abdirahman Duale Ali has been detained in a house in north Mogadishu for several days.

It's the latest of several attacks on MPs -- most of Somalia's faction leaders still refuse to recognise the transitional government set up last year to restore order after nearly a decade of civil war. Earlier this month the speaker of parliament narrowly escaped kidnap and in November an MP was shot dead by gunmen.
