South Africa march against rape

Thousands of men are expected to take part in a march in Cape Town, South Africa, later today to condemn violence against women.

South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape and other crimes against women in the world.

The organisers say there three rapes every minute.

One of the sponsors of the march, the Archbishop of Cape Town Njongonkulu Ndugane, says the men of South Africa should take a stand against violence against women and act as role models for boys.

The marchers are expected to hand a petition to President Thabo Mbeki at the gates of parliament.
