A convention of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the largest party in India's coalition government, has ended with the Hindu nationalist party strongly criticising Pakistan for, as the movement put it, carrying out a proxy war with India in Kashmir. At the same the BJP said it supported the Indian government's recent attempts to hold peace talks with one of the major separatist groups in Indian-administered Kashmir.
