Violence mars derby match
Celtic Park
Fourteen people were arrested at Celtic Park
Police made 62 arrests and are investigating an attempted murder and a serious assault following the Old Firm match between Celtic and Rangers.

Violence flared after the match at Celtic Park in the east end of the city.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that 14 people were arrested at the game on Sunday and a further 48 afterwards.

They were largely for minor disorder offences.

In the most serious incident on the southside of the city, a 32-year-old man was struck in the face with an unidentified weapon.

Inquiries continuing

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where his condition was described as serious but stable.

The police spokesman said: "We are treating this incident as attempted murder."

In another incident, a man was badly beaten with sticks and golf clubs after being chased by a group of men in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.

On Monday he was in Glasgow's Western Infirmary where his condition was described as stable.

Police are continuing inquiries into both incidents.

The match, which Celtic won 6-2, kicked off at 1300 BST in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of alcohol-related trouble.
