India's Vajpayee delays US trip

The Indian Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has delayed by two days his visit to the United States next week on the advice of his doctors.

The announcement of the delay comes amid growing speculation speculation about Mr Vajpayee's health.

He suffers from recurring pain in his knees, and on Sunday cut short a stay at a party convention at Nagpur, in Maharashtra. During the visit to the United States Mr Vajpayee is due to address the UN Millennium Peace Conference in New York, and to meet President Clinton.
