Little progress in Burundi talks

Officials say there has been little progress in last-minute talks between Burundian factions in the Tanzanian town of Arusha.

The former South African president, Nelson Mandela, is trying to iron out major differences between the factions ahead of Monday's planned signing of an accord to end Burundi's civil war.

Delegations from the Burundi government, the parliament and the various political parties have disagreed on different points in the draft accord and have all declared their intentions not to sign.

The draft is the culmination of two years of discussions between the various warring factions in the seven year civil war between Burundian Hutu rebels and the minority Tutsi-led government. More than two hundred-thousand people have died in the conflict.
