Middle East peace efforts continue

The Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, has arrived in Egypt as part of continuing efforts to break the deadlock in attempts to achieve peace in the Middle East.

Mr Arafat is in Alexandria, where he'll meet the Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, for talks on one of the main sticking points in the peace process -- the future sovereignty of Jerusalem.

The Israeli foreign Minister, Shlomo Ben-Ami, who met Mr Mubarak in Alexandria last week, has said that Egypt is attempting to broker a solution to the problem. Intense diplomatic efforts have been going on since the failed Camp David summit last month in an attempt to bridge the gaps between Israel and the Palestinians .
