New Indonesian cabinet sworn in

The Indonesian Vice President, Megawati Sukarnoputri, has sworn in a new cabinet at the state palace in the capital, Jakarta.

The ceremony was attended by President Abdurrahaman Wahid, who handed over the daily government business to his deputy on Friday.

The new power-sharing agreement was read out at the ceremony.

However, it is not clear yet how much power Megawati will have in the new cabinet, which does not include many of her supporters.

In another development, the Indonesian attorney-general Marzuki Darusman has said that names of those suspected of involvement in last year's violent campaign against East Timorese independence will be made public next week. He said the list will include thirty names of high ranking officials, but gave no further details.
