Bangladeshi envoy meets Pakistani leader

The military ruler of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, has received an envoy from Bangladesh, who delivered a letter from the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.

However, it's not yet known what was in the letter.

Nor are the contents known of another letter which the envoy, the Bangladeshi foreign secretary, Shafi Sami, delivered to the Indian Prime Minister during a similar trip to Delhi.

An official statement by Pakistan¿s foreign ministry said that General Musharraf and Mr. Sami also discussed bilateral and regional issues in their meeting.

Reports from Dhaka suggest the letters may be about reviving discussions on when to hold the next summit meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, or SAARC. The last meeting had been due to take place in December but was postponed after the military coup in Pakistan.
