Israel protests over Lebanon violence

Israel has accused Lebanese nationals of committing over three hundred acts of violence on its northern border since Israeli forces pulled out of southern Lebanon in May.

An Israeli army spokesman said the complaints - including allegations of stone throwing and petrol bombing - were filed with the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon.

A spokesman for the UN force said there were no plans to send troops to the more sensitive border areas.

He said it was essentially an internal security problem which the Lebanese authorities should tackle.
