Russian border guard killed in Tajikistan

A Russian frontier guard patrolling the Tajik border with Afghanistan has been killed in an overnight skirmish with an armed group.

Reports say the group was trying to enter Tajikistan illegally. Under a bilateral agreement, Russian troops patrol the Tajik-Afghan border, partly in a bid to stem the drugs trade from Afghanistan to Europe.
