Vietnamese official warns Politburo on corruption

A senior member of Vietnam's ruling Communist Party, Pham The Duyet, says there's evidence of corruption among the relatives of figures in the Politburo.

In comments reported by the official media, Mr Duyet who's a member of the Politburo himself says that there are no serious problems, but he says Politburo members with wives and children who have what he called "connections", should be warned.

He said corruption was becoming more sophisticated.

The Vietnamese government is conducting an anti-corruption drive, but it's unusual for the focus to be turned on the elite Politburo.
