Strike by Bangladeshi film industry
Actors and film workers at Bangladesh's main movie studio complex have stopped work in protest at a recent attack on a film crew. The attack occured on a film set outside Dhaka, when local villagers were refused permission to watch filming. The villagers burnt down the film crew's makeshift homes and the film set and detained the actors. The star of the film, Manna, said that some of the actresses were assaulted by the villagers and that the police did not intervene. Filmmakers are also planning to demonstrate in Dhaka on Thursday and submit a letter to the Home Minister demanding more security for the country's film workers.
